Krishna Leela Enthrals Audience at Chaiti Mahotsav in Lucknow

Lucknow: The sixth day of the ongoing Chaiti Mahotsav 2026, organised by the Aishbagh Ramlila Samiti, witnessed a captivating staging of episodes from the life of Lord Krishna, portraying his journey from a humble cowherd of Gokul to the revered king of Dwarka.

The performance began with repeated invasions by Jarasandh on Mathura, compelling Lord Krishna to take the strategic decision of relocating his people. To ensure the safety of Mathura’s residents, he led the Yadu clan westward and established the grand city of Dwarka on the coast.
Following Krishna’s departure, Jarasandh seized control of Mathura. Meanwhile, scenes depicting Krishna’s coronation as Dwarkadhish were presented with grandeur, followed by his diplomatic outreach to Hastinapur through a peace envoy. The narrative culminated with the celebrated wedding of Krishna and Rukmini, marking the conclusion of the sixth day’s performance.
Adding vibrancy to the cultural evening, Dance Manthan School of Dance presented devotional performances on Krishna bhajans such as “Shyam Ki Jogan” and “He Gopal Krishna”, with Ankita Vajpayee delivering a graceful act.

Under the direction of Huma Sahu, artists also performed devotional dances dedicated to Goddess Durga, alongside sequences depicting Rukmini-Krishna wedding, Raas Leela, and Radha-Krishna Holi, earning widespread appreciation from the audience.

Committee president Harishchandra Agrawal said the festival aims to bring India’s rich cultural traditions to every household through engaging performances. He added that upcoming acts will feature Draupadi Swayamvar and Arjun-Subhadra marriage episodes, promising further cultural richness for spectators.
